The project “EU Support to Strengthen the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Traf-ficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans” is designed to improve the conditions for preventing and combating migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings in the Western Balkans. The interlinked outputs of the project EU4FAST cover all elements of preventing and combatting the smuggling of migrants and trafficking in human beings in a four-pillar approach (Prevention, Protection, Prosecution and Partnership) by: Working with law enforcement and judicial authorities on inter-institutional and intra-regional co-operation; Strengthening the partnership with EU Member States and EU Justice and Home Affairs Agencies, including through the active participation of Western Balkan au-thorities in EMPACT; Fostering the ability of Western Balkan authorities and frontline workers to identify and provide protection to (potential) victims of trafficking in human beings and to refer them to competent state and non-state assistance and support ser-vices; Assisting border authorities in preventing and countering migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings, in line with EU standards and human rights.
